Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 21, 2026

Hoopko ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

When you register and use Hoopko, we collect:

2. How We Use Your Information

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

4. Camera & Video Recording

When you choose Voice + Video (Highlights) mode during a game, the camera records video and the microphone captures audio. Recordings are saved only to your device's temporary storage. They are never uploaded to our servers or shared automatically. You only share a recording when you explicitly tap the Share button.

Recorded videos older than 24 hours are automatically deleted from your device on the next app launch.

5. People Visible in Your Recordings

If you record a game, other players on the court will appear in your video. You are responsible for asking for their consent before sharing the footage publicly, especially in regions covered by GDPR or similar privacy laws. Hoopko does not share these videos automatically.

6. Direct Messages

Hoopko allows one-to-one text messages (DMs) only between users who are mutual friends. Random users cannot message you.

DMs are not end-to-end encrypted. Messages are stored on Firebase Firestore so the recipient can read them when they open the conversation. We do not proactively scan DM content, but we reserve the right to review specific messages when an abuse report is filed.

You can block any user from their profile or chat screen — blocked users cannot message you and you stop receiving notifications from them. You can report a user for harassment, hate speech, sexual content involving minors, spam, or threats; reports are reviewed manually within 48 hours.

Do not send sensitive personal information, payment details, government IDs, passwords, or anything you would not want our moderation team to see in the event of a report.

When you delete your account, all DMs you have sent are removed from our servers.

7. Children's Privacy (Age 16+)

Hoopko requires users to be at least 16 years old. This is in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Article 8, which sets the minimum age for digital consent in most EU member states at 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If we become aware that an account belongs to a person under 16, the account and all associated data (including DMs, friends, games, and profile) will be deleted immediately.

8. Voice Data

Voice score tracking uses offline speech recognition (Vosk) processed entirely on your device. Audio is never transmitted to our servers or stored anywhere.

9. Location Data

Location is used only to show nearby games and is not stored on our servers beyond what is necessary for game creation. You can disable location access in your device settings at any time.

10. Data Retention

Your account data is retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account, which permanently removes your personal data and cascades to delete games you created, removes you from games you joined, and deletes all DMs you have sent. Inactive games are auto-deleted after 2 hours.

11. Security

We use Firebase Security Rules, Firebase App Check (Play Integrity), email verification, and industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, Firebase server-side encryption at rest) to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to matijatometic@gmail.com.

12. Your Rights (GDPR)

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes trigger a re-acceptance prompt the next time you open the app.
